What can we list on LINA Stock Exchange?

Hi

I am setting up this topic as I feel it is unclear what we can and can not add to the stock exchange.
I read concerns about listing actual stocks like Tesla, given some regulatory constraints. However, could we start a proper list with items that can be listed and then rank order them?

My goal with this threat would be to create a listing schedule for 2022.

I like the idea of a listing schedule, which could become part of the DAO governed roadmap.
I think stocks are off the table but we could focus more on commodities and indices.
If we list here what commodities we would like to see we can get a top 5 and put it to the core team to see how viable.
Mine are: Lithium, wheat, soy, oil, gas…
Indices are more tricky, we are in the process of working with Pie DAO in the initial phases to get more indices but any other ideas on how to proceed with more indexes are welcomed.

One issue to also consider, as we list more liquid assets gas fees will increase. We need also to balance additions to the exchange with some de lists also.
Not sure if many of you trade the currency pairs?

The issue on the gas fee is something I am struggling to get my head around.

Is it possible to visualise this by showing gas fee based on the number of asset listed on the exchange?

For me it’s not clear what is the net impact on the gas fee…

In terms of assets I would add in order of trading history so
Oil
Coffee
Natural gas
Gold
Wheat
Cotton
Corn
Sugar
Silver
Copper

What about “Tokenized Stocks” ? I think it would be good addition.

There are specific regulations for stock/tokenised stocks (even Binance did it for some time but then stopped it, not sure if it went back).

Regarding commodities/currency indexes, not an expert but should be easier as we already have some! Would be great to have more

Yep… stocks are an issue. The commodities seem to be fair game :eyes:

Stocks cannot be listed on our exchange due to US legislation, however I have digged into commodities and made a list of some of the most traded ones by category:

Precious metals:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Platinum
  • Palladium

Metals:

  • Copper
  • Lead
  • Zinc
  • Tin
  • Aluminium

Agriculture:

  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Soybeans
  • Rice
  • Oat

Energy:

  • WTI Crude Oil
  • Brent Crude Oil
  • Natural Gas
  • Uranium
  • Propane

Maybe instead of listing each one of them, we could make indices for the different categories, would like to hear your opinion about it. :+1:

I like the idea of indices, but that could take sometime so meanwhile, how about we choose one commodity from each category above and get these listed on the exchange?
I’d pick the top one from each category basically.
And either we just add these or we also vote to remove the 5 least traded assets currently on exchange…

I also think that I would rather trade them individually instead a index.

Do we need to set up a proposal to vote on for that?

I think there should be no difference between adding an index or single commodities. The time for adding it relies on the Oracle implementation. Sadly Chainlink has only XAU and XAG (Gold and Silver) atm. We already use them, so it will take time either way. I think indices makes more sense here.

But we have to admit that these liquids make not really sense in the portfolio as long as they have not the same volatility as cryptos or we have some proper perp / leverage options for them. It’s no coincidence that XAU, XAG, EUR and JPY are not heavily used by linear dept pool participants. It would be a good promotion for the eco system.

Best regards!

Honestly I don’t see any use for indexes unless it can be traded with leverage.
The leverage point is something I wanted to raise as a separate topic. I do agree that we need more options here but first we should fix the current UI which is completely unusable. I really would like to use the leverage option for BTC and others but I just don’t understand the UI. That’s why I find myself keep taking LUSD out of the ecosystem…
